Routine cultural events all over Indonesia

Miss and Mr Batik Nusantara
The Miss and Mr Batik Nusantara Pageant is an annual event aimed at reviving pride for Indonesian batik among the younger generation. Throughout the selection process, the nominees received basic knowledge in personally enhancement, batik and etiquette from local experts, such as Tika Bisono, Carmanita, Ellen Tendean, as well as attending a batik workshop batik at the Textile Museum Jakarta.

Singakawang Festival
The annual Singkawang Festival is held in West Kalimantan town known as the city of thousand temples. The event promotes the regions rich culture through various cultural attractions, art performances, exhibitions and West Kalimantan cuisine. It held on 1-3 July in Singkawang, West Kalimantan



Kemilau Sumatera
Kemilau Sumatera is held in Palembang South Sumatera, and participants come from most of the provinces, cities, and regencies in Sumatera. The event’s program includes exhibition of regional potentials, traditional performances, traditional bridal processions and fashion show, seminar and fashion for the Muslim bride and groom. It held on 8-10 July.

Lombok Sumbawa Pearl Festival
To attract visitors, the annual Lombok Sumbawa Pearl Festival holds a pearl exhibition and pearl harvest, traditional dances, handicraft exhibition, Miss Pearl Pageant and a pearl auction, During the 2011 Lombok Sumbawa Pearl Festival, around 200 kilograms of pearls from all over Indonesia was exhibited. The most popular is the Nusa Tenggara held on 8-11 July.

Kemilau Sulawesi
Every years, Sulawesi’s provincial capitals are given the chance to host the Kemilau Sulawesi, which is the festival aimed at promoting Sulawesi’s culture, social and economic potentials. It held on 19-21 July.


Wedding Vaganza
The magical Wedding Vaganza organized by Bella Donna is the biggest and granted wedding expo in Bali and eastern Indonesia. Apart from a fashion show from Jakarta’s reknown designers, the event is enlivened with entertaining programs. Exhibitioners are wedding vendors from Bali, Surabaya, Jakarta, Yogyakarta and abroad. It held on 15-17 July.


Tanjung Bhira Phinisi Festival
The Phinisi Festval and Bulukumba Expo are held in two the tourism areas, Bira Beach, Ammatoa Kajang, in the fishing village of Kalumene Beach, and the boat building region of Tanah Beru. During the event, boat-builders and craftsmen show their amazing skills in the constructing miniature Phinisi boats from wooden, chips and part of boat’s hull. It held on 15-17 July.

North Maluku Cultural Festival
The festival is held in the town’s center, and features the maritime history of the region and fascinating tourist objects. It held on 16-17 July Bintan Tracking & Durian Party The annual Mountain Tracking and Durian Party on Bukit Batu Gunung Bintan challenges participants to hike up the 340 m Gunung Bintan where they can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views from the summit. After trekking through Bintan’s rainforest, participants get together in the village of Bintan Bekapur and feast on the durian fruits. It held on 16-17 July.

Makassar Coastal Festival
The Makassar Coastal Festival takes place on Buton Island. Visitors are encouraged to take part in the festival’s activities, such as beach volley, swimming across islands, dragon boat race, traditional raft race, diving, snorkeling, cultural and art performances. The Tuturangianandala ritual is also an interesting attraction. Fishermen give offering to guardians of the sea to ensure a plentiful catch. On land, don’t miss a visit to Keraton Wolio Fort from the time of the Buton Sultanate, which is considered the largest fort inthe world. It held on 18-21 July.

ASEAN Jazz festival
ASEAN Jazz Festival is an annual event that brings together jazz musicians from Indonesia and other ASEAN countries, and even from other parts of the world. Every year the ASEAN Jazz Festival is held in different cities in the country. It held on 22-23 July.

Togean Festival
The Togean Festival combines the beauty of underwater realm with the scenic beauty of the land and the fascinating maritime culture of the Bajo people. One of their most amazing customs is diving without a breathing apparatus and still able to stay underwater for an hour. The Bajos also display a parade of traditional vessels and variety of art performances. To reach the Togen Islands in Tomini Bay, visitors travel by lend through Palu then to Ampana covering a distance of 350 km, or to by air to Luwuk (Banggai capital east of Southeast Sulawesi), then to Gorontali. Wakai in the Togean is accessible only by boat. It held on 23-27 July.

Jember Fashion Festival
Since it was launched in 2003, Jember Fashion Carnaval has become a much anticipated event which features the world’s longest catwalk, measuring 3,6 km in the center of the town. The glittering fashion parade features elaborate and often theatrical customes which are visitors and photographer’s dream. It held on 24 July.

Jazz On The Beach
Parai Beach in Bangka Belitung is host of the Jazz on the Beach. Wonderful beach panorama creates a stunning setting for a musical event that presents some of Indonesia’s top jazz musicians. It held on 27 July.

Tanah Lot Art Festival
Tanah Lot Festival was first held on 2009. The event features classical and contemporary arts from Tabanan, where the festival is held. It held on 26 July – 1 August. Bali is not the only tourism place in Indonesia. Why you should explore other places as well Bali is one of the tourism places in Indonesia. As I say before, Indonesia is the attractive country.
